Amazon’s Zoox Launches Robotaxi Testing in Los Angeles
Amazon's autonomous vehicle division, Zoox, has begun testing a fleet of retrofitted vehicles in Los Angeles, marking its sixth city for data collection. Unlike Waymo, Zoox is still in early stages, utilizing manually driven Toyota Highlanders to gather mapping data. The company aims to expand its autonomous testing in Las Vegas and San Francisco later this year. Currently, Zoox's autonomous vehicles are being tested in multiple cities, including Austin and Miami. This expansion follows a recent software recall on 258 vehicles due to braking issues, highlighting the challenges in the autonomous driving sector.
