Amazon has announced the launch of its new robot-powered fulfillment center in Shreveport, Louisiana, which spans three million square feet. This facility, designed with a ground-up approach to robotics and AI, will feature ten times the number of robots compared to standard centers. With a current fleet of nearly a million robots, Amazon aims to enhance its operational efficiency. The new systems include the advanced Sequoia inventory system capable of holding over 30 million items. Once fully operational, the center will employ 2,500 workers, ensuring human oversight remains integral.
