Pete Florence, a former senior research scientist at DeepMind, has exited Google to establish his robotics startup, Generalist AI, already securing investment from Nvidia. Announced at Nvidia’s GTC conference, Florence aims to realize the potential of general-purpose robots. Joining as a technical founding member is Kamyar Ghasemipour, another DeepMind alumnus. Florence envisions a future where the cost of physical labor approaches zero. His departure aligns with a trend of DeepMind alumni founding innovative companies in the AI and robotics fields. Both Nvidia and Google have not commented on the developments.
