FuriosaAI Rejects $800M Acquisition Offer from Meta
FuriosaAI, a South Korean AI chip startup, has declined an $800 million acquisition proposal from Meta, focusing instead on its chip development. The breakdown in negotiations is attributed to disagreements over business strategy and organizational structure. Meta aims to lessen its dependency on Nvidia for specialized AI chips and has committed up to $65 billion for AI initiatives this year. FuriosaAI is also seeking to raise around $48 million to further its growth. Founded in 2017, it has developed the RNGD chip tailored for reasoning models, set to launch later this year.
