Google DeepMind has introduced DolphinGemma, a groundbreaking AI model aimed at deciphering dolphin vocalizations to enhance our understanding of their communication. This model is built on the Gemma series and was trained using data from the Wild Dolphin Project, focusing on Atlantic spotted dolphins. DolphinGemma can generate realistic dolphin sounds and operates efficiently on mobile devices. This summer, researchers will utilize the Pixel 9 smartphone to create synthetic dolphin vocalizations and analyze responses. The upgrade from Pixel 6 to Pixel 9 will allow simultaneous execution of advanced AI models.
