Hertz Confirms Data Breach Exposing Customers' Personal Information
Hertz has alerted customers about a data breach resulting from a cyberattack on a vendor between October and December 2024. The breach compromised names, dates of birth, contact details, and driver’s licenses of customers from regions including Australia, Canada, and the EU. While 3,400 customers in Maine were confirmed affected, the total number may be much higher. The breach was linked to Cleo Software, which was previously targeted by a hacking group. Hertz stated that its own systems were not breached, but unauthorized third parties accessed customer data.
