Waymo has announced a new partnership with Hyundai Motor Group, integrating the Ioniq 5 into its autonomous robotaxi fleet. This move marks a shift from the previously exclusive use of Jaguar's I-PACE electric vehicles. Waymo's sixth-generation 'Waymo Driver' will be incorporated into custom-made Ioniq 5 models produced at Hyundai's new Metaplant in Georgia. Production is set to begin in late 2024, with initial testing of the Ioniq 5 planned for late 2025. The collaboration aims to enhance clean energy transportation and expand autonomous service availability.
