IBM Unveils z17 Mainframe to Accelerate AI Adoption
IBM has launched its latest mainframe, the z17, designed to enhance AI capabilities across various industries. Powered by the IBM Telum II processor, it supports over 250 AI use cases and can handle 450 billion inference operations daily, marking a 50% improvement over its predecessor. The mainframe, which has been under development for five years, incorporates customer feedback to align with market needs. Notably, it is energy-efficient, achieving significant AI acceleration with lower energy consumption. The z17 will be available starting June 8, 2025.
