NHTSA Expands Ford BlueCruise Investigation Following Fatal Crashes
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has escalated its investigation into Ford's BlueCruise hands-free driving system after confirming its involvement in two deadly accidents. Initially launched in April, the probe has now progressed to an engineering analysis phase, allowing deeper scrutiny into the system's limitations, particularly its detection of stationary vehicles. Approximately 129,222 Mustang Mach-E vehicles are equipped with BlueCruise, which has faced criticism for potentially misidentifying objects at high speeds. Ford has yet to comment on the findings as the investigation continues.
