Ponte Labor, founded by Colombian immigrants Stephanie Murra and Lorenza Vélez, aims to connect Hispanic immigrants with jobs in the U.S. using WhatsApp. The startup addresses the labor shortage in blue-collar sectors by pre-vetting candidates who often face language barriers. Officially launched in November 2023, Ponte has onboarded over 60,000 candidates and placed nearly 800 workers in hospitality roles. Recently, it raised $3 million in seed funding to further its mission. The founders focus on building trust within the immigrant community and plan to expand into other sectors in the future.
