Sesame has unveiled its base AI model, CSM-1B, which powers the highly realistic voice assistant, Maya. The model features 1 billion parameters and is available under an Apache 2.0 license for commercial use. CSM-1B employs residual vector quantization to generate audio codes from text inputs. While it is capable of producing various voices, it lacks fine-tuning for specific voices and has minimal safeguards against misuse. Co-founded by Oculus veteran Brendan Iribe, Sesame has also secured investment from major firms and is exploring AI glasses technology.
