US Music Streaming Subscribers Surpass 100 Million for the First Time
The U.S. has achieved a historic milestone with over 100 million paid music streaming subscribers, according to the Record Industry Association of America (RIAA). This marks a 3% increase from 2023's 96.8 million subscribers. Spotify leads the market with a 36% share, while Apple Music follows closely with 30.7%. Streaming now accounts for 84% of total music revenue, primarily driven by paid subscriptions. Revenue from these subscriptions rose by 5% year-on-year, totaling $11.7 billion. Price hikes across major platforms may have contributed to this growth.
