YouTube announced a significant change in how it counts views for Shorts, now including every time a Short starts or replays. Previously, views were counted only after a specific duration of playback. This adjustment aims to provide creators with better insight into their content's performance. The new metrics will align with those of TikTok and Instagram Reels, allowing for improved cross-platform comparisons. Despite the change in view counting, YouTube assures that creators' earnings and eligibility for the Partner Program remain tied to the previously defined 'engaged views.' The update takes effect on March 31.
